  7. BulletDO YOU want to learn how to write and create plays, sing, improvise, act, move, perform and bring your stories to life onstage?

  8. BulletDO YOU want to take action, inspire others, call for change, become an activist and an artist?

  9. THEN Power Grrrls is for you!

  10. BulletNo prior theatre experience is necessary, just a true desire to tell your stories on stage and make change today.

  11. Power Grrrls’ will:

  12. BulletProvide a supportive, enriching, theatre-based program for teen girls where they are respected and taught how to develop their potential as young artists, creative thinkers and community leaders with exciting visions for change in their communities.

  13. BulletLead these teens to move from being spectators to spect-actors in their lives so they feel confident to tackle tough issues and act productively and peacefully upon the conflicts they see happening around them.

  14. BulletBuild a theatre ensemble of girls who learn how to share power and collaborate effectively, who honor the individual in relation to the whole, and who together create dynamic interactive theatre pieces about the life challenges that matter most to them.

  15. BulletPerform for their peers at various community sites to jumpstart dialogue about what’s really going on and how to make things better and more just for all.

  16. BulletTeach the team how they can use theatre as a form of community action—a rehearsal for reality-- that allows them to take ownership of their ideas, and share these solutions through performance so that others may also be inspired to take action today to transform their futures.

Power gRRRls is Gas & Electric Arts' summer six-week intensive program for  teen girls to develop their potential as young artists and creative life thinkers about how tomore productively tackle recurring conflicts in their lives and to initiate making change.

Over the summer, the gRRRls will use interactive Forum Theatre techniques to explore important life skills and issues that matter to them. Through the program, the gRRRLs learn what it means to trust themselves and each other, how to share power as well as the challenges and rewards of truly collaborating with one another.

By the end of the program, the gRRRls will share scenes they have created about issues in their lives with the goal of initiating dynamic conversations with you, the audience, about these concerns and how to change these to win-win situations where the teen protagonists' needs are met and their voices are heard and not silenced.

Through the the final performance, we seek to jumpstart dialogue about what's really going on in a gRRRls life and how to make things better and more just for all.
