Gas & Electric Arts

theatre for social JUSTICE PROGRAMS

Our WORKSHOP programs

are rooted in the techniques of renowned Brazilian theatre director, activist, and Nobel Peace Prize finalist Augusto Boal with whom Artistic Director & facilitator, Lisa Jo Epstein trained extensively. Epstein has utilized Boal’s techniques, along with an array of interactive, process-based strategies for personal and group transformation, for two decades.

In our workshops, you will:

GAIN fresh, playful yet powerful tools for exploring human interaction, the roles we play in our world and how our choices impact us as well as others.

LEARN new and profound approaches in learning, teaching,  creativity, and moving through the world.

ENGAGE in lively theatre-based activities rooted in the work of  Augusto Boal, other social-change artists and interactive process-based strategies for personal and group transformation.  No theatre experience necessary!

EXPLORE thorny issues in non-competitive, open ways and dive into honest dialogue through the moving language of images, story telling and theatre.

RE-SEE and re-hear yourself, tap into your imagination and apply this to your own needs.

ANIMATE images and personal stories; develop interactive theatre scenes to open dynamic dialogue and rehearse new possibilities for taking action & making change

ENLIVEN empathy, understanding and awareness of your self and your community.

All skills are immediately applicable and widely transferable.
